Solar passive design is the art of incorporating specific design features in the design of your home or home addition in order to harness the natural heating and cooling ability of your climate at the relevant times of the year.  The number one buzz word in solar passive design is orientation - orientation - orientation!  You would be surprised how many people do not consider a home's orientation.  There is always an exception to the rule if your block has sensational views in what would normally be considered the "wrong" direction.  But in most cases, orientation will play a very big part in the design and placement of your home and it's ability to acheive the considerable performance benefits that only good solar passive design will bring.
